Who we are?
The Ajax-Pickering Toastmasters Club celebrates 26 years of commitment, strong public speaking skills & knowledge, friendly-supportive environment, and leadership skills.
For 7-years in a row (From 2004 through to 2010) our club received the President's Distinguised Club award for our educational and club program.
In 2006, our club received an Award of Merit from the Town of Ajax for our club’s personal growth and positive thinking.
In 2005, our club won the City of Pickering Cultural Diversity Award for being a diverse group of individuals that can provide you the growth and learning skills of how to become a good speaker and strong leader.
What we can do for you?
We can show and teach you how to become a good leader. Good leaders = good communicators.
Ø A leader is a person that can persuade people by providing good management, leadership skills, communicate well with others, and listen to people.
Ø A leader is a person that provides growth in others by allowing people to be creative, speak freely, learn from them and others, and expand their wings.
Ø A leader is a person that presents well in front of others by showing their presence. Your appearance and body language play an important role on how well you can present your opinions, facts, research, and topic in public speaking.
Ø Leaders have poise, sensitivity, impartially, tact, sense of humour, good judgment, and good listening skills.
Why do I need Toastmasters?
We all need to lead in some way or another-at work through delivery of acceptable/excellent results, at home through being good role models to our children or being leaders in maintaining relationships to our partners, in society through practice of being good friends, good neighbours, and good citizens.
Toastmasters can provide the added confidence in your professional career, your speaking and listening skills for day-to-day life, and allows you to practice with friendly and honest people. You’ll learn and practice to be better communicators in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reasons you are there. Whatever the reason, members and guests are assured a fun filled evening that is both enjoyable and educational.
Our club offers all guests and members a great venue to practice communication and leadership skills, in an open and friendly-environment by learning how to speak off the cuff (impromptu), prepared speeches, telling jokes, moderating and leading a meeting, issue a request or place a motion in a business meeting, debating and negotiating, and presenting ideas in front of a group. There is lots to be learned at a Toastmasters meeting; each session is different and you will learn something new!
Where do we meet?
Ajax Pickering Toastmasters Club meets at the OPG Nuclear Information Centre. Drive south on Brock Road, Pickering to Montgomery Park Road, turn right at the signals and follow the signs to the Ontario Power Generation, Nuclear Information Centre. Free visitors parking is available.
